Scandia has manufactured the parts for and has assembled virtually every antenna mast for every class of US nuclear submarine. Antenna systems include the AN/BRA-34, OE-207/BR, AN/BRD-7, BLD-1, HDR, OE-158, OE-538, AN/BQR-19, BPS-15, OE-305, BRR-6, AN/BRA-8, AN/BRA-9, AN/BRA-21, and NAVSAT. In addition, we have manufactured BRA-24 and BRR-6 buoys and floating wires and components for the OK-542 Thin Line Handling Equipment. Scandia has also manufactured the sail closure door systems for the AN/BRD-7(BLD-1), IEM, ACM & the HDR mast fairings. | /Products-Periscopes_(160x120).jpg) | Periscope Masts
Scandia manufactures and assembles periscope mast fairings for the 688 (Los Angeles) class, 726 (Trident) Class and SSN 21 (Seawolf) class Submarines. Work includes machining of all internal components in addition to the fit-up, alignment and installation of these components into the mast fairing. We routinely recondition and upgrade in-service masts, incorporating ECP’s and field changes. Scandia manufactures various types of hydraulic cylinder assemblies including submarine antenna, snorkel and periscope mast fairing hoist cylinders and HDR antenna closure door cylinder assemblies. Typical materials are monel 400 for the cylinder and K-500 monel for the piston rod. All welding is done using approved procedures by welders qualified in accordance with MIL-STD-248D & NAVSEA S9074-AQ GIB-010/248. Scandia manufactures numerous types and sizes of valve assemblies including ball, needle, gate, globe and cartridge type checks. Typical applications for these valves are ship's hydraulic, high pressure air, diver's air and seawater systems. These valves are subject to strict test requirements prior to shipment. Scandia manufactures SUBSAFE hull fittings and hull penetrators as well submarine stuffing tubes and electrical connectors. Scandia manufactures & tests friction type antenna, periscope, radar, snorkel mast and hoist cylinder lifting clamps as well as mechanical lifting devices, spreader bars and lifting slings for the installation, removal and handling of all equipment in the submarine's sail. Scandia manufactures and assembles submarine machinery and structure ORDALTS and MACHALTS. These components are packed in ship set kits for easy shipment and installation. Scandia manufactures specialized CRES, CUNI and NICU pipe and tube fittings including filters, strainers, tees, drain/vents, test connections, elbows, couplings, reducers, inserts, air diffusers & water diffusers. These fittings are often classified Level I and require detailed certifications and special testing. |
